Shared KYC

What is Shared KYC?

Shared KYC is the process by which verified users from partner platforms can onboard to Kulipa without repeating the entire KYC process. When a user has already been verified by a trusted partner, their identity data can be securely shared with Kulipa, enabling instant card issuance and faster access to services.

This approach is particularly valuable in the crypto ecosystem, where different financial providers can easily be composed one on top of the other. Rather than forcing users to upload documents and wait for verification for each platform, Shared KYC can create a seamless experience across services.

How Shared KYC Works

Step 1: Partnership Setup

Kulipa establishes partnerships with trusted platforms in the crypto ecosystem. These partnerships enable wallet providers to forward verified KYC data to Kulipa's import endpoint, with terms that ensure compliance with relevant regulations.

Critically, Kulipa must review the KYC process of the partner platform to ensure the data collected, as well as the methods to verify its authenticity, are sufficient for Kulipa's compliance requirements.

Step 2: User Verification at Partner Platform

The KYC process is adjusted to capture any data required by Kulipa, and not already collected by the partner platform. Users already verified by the partner platform may need a backfill process for missing data.

Step 3: Secure Data Import

When the verified user wants to access Kulipa services, the partner platform securely transmits the user's verified identity data to Kulipa using the import endpoint. This includes a mixture of textual data (such as name, address) and documents (such as government ID, proof of address).

Security & Compliance

Data Encryption

All identity data transmitted between partner platforms and Kulipa is encrypted end-to-end using industry-standard encryption protocols. Data is transmitted securely and stored in compliance with data protection regulations.

Regulatory Compliance

Shared KYC fully complies with:

  • AML/KYC Requirements: All imported data meets Anti-Money Laundering and Know Your Customer regulatory standards

⚠️

Batch Processing Warning

When importing multiple KYC records in batch, please distribute your requests over time rather than sending them all at once. This helps reduce system load and ensures optimal performance for all partners.
